People's personal details appear on dozens of websites they have never heard of — and most have no idea how to remove them or even that they have the legal right to do so.
The uncomfortable truth is that this is all legal. Data broker companies collect personal information from public records, social media and other sources and sell it to anyone willing to pay — including fraudsters, cold callers and scammers. It happens quietly, in the background, without most people's knowledge.
We built Silent Erase to change that. To give UK residents the tools, knowledge and legal leverage to fight back. To make privacy protection as easy to use as the threat is widespread. And to particularly protect the people most at risk — elderly people, fraud victims and anyone whose data has been exploited without their consent.
After witnessing elderly relatives targeted by scammers who seemed to know personal details that should never have been public — we began investigating data brokers and discovered the scale of the problem. Hundreds of websites legally selling UK residents' personal information. No easy way to remove it. No accessible tools to fight back.
