Common questions
Do you store what I paste? No. The message is analysed in memory and discarded immediately. We do not log it, save it or transmit it anywhere. This matters to us — we are a privacy company, and a tool that harvested the messages people were worried about would be indefensible.
Can I rely on a clear result? No tool can be certain. We check for known scam patterns, and a sophisticated scam can avoid all of them. Treat a clear result as "nothing obvious found" rather than "definitely safe" — and never share passwords or one-time codes regardless of what any checker says.
What should I do if it flags as a scam?Do not reply, do not click links, do not call numbers in the message. Delete it. You can forward suspicious texts free to 7726 and suspicious emails to report@phishing.gov.uk. If you have already responded, call your bank on 159.
How does it work?Pattern matching against known scam markers — urgency language, payment demands, credential requests, impersonation of UK organisations, suspicious link structures and more. Each match adds to a risk score, and combinations across multiple categories weigh more heavily than any single flag.
