Is Silent Erase Legit? An Honest Answer

If you have landed here you are probably about to hand over money to a company you have never heard of, to do something you cannot easily verify. That is a completely reasonable thing to be cautious about — particularly on a website about fraud.
So rather than a marketing page, here is a straight answer, including the parts that are less flattering.
How to verify us without taking our word for it
Do not trust a company's own claims about itself. Check them independently:
Our ICO registration
We are registered with the Information Commissioner's Office, registration number C1971457. Anyone can verify this at ico.org.uk — search the register yourself. Any UK organisation processing personal data is legally required to register. If a privacy company is not on that register, that tells you something.
Our payment processing
All payments go through Stripe. We never see or store your card details. If you ever want a refund, you have both our process and your card issuer's chargeback rights behind you.

Our dark web checker and our Silent Guard phone checker are free and need no account. Use them first. Judge whether we seem competent before you consider paying us anything.
Who actually runs this
Silent Erase was founded and is run by me, Nathan Brandon, in England. I am currently a sole trader, not a limited company — I will register with Companies House as the business grows, and I would rather tell you that plainly than let you assume otherwise.
I started this after watching elderly relatives get calls from people who knew their name, their address and their routine. When I looked into how that was possible, I found their details had been legally bought from data broker websites for a few pounds. That is the whole reason this exists.

What we can honestly do
Under Article 17 of UK GDPR you have a legal right to demand erasure of your personal data. Organisations have one calendar month to respond. That right is real, it is enforceable, and most people never use it.
What we do is exercise it on your behalf, at scale, and keep doing it — because the work is repetitive and tedious rather than difficult. We generate the legal requests, send them, track responses and chase anyone who ignores the deadline.
What we cannot do — the honest limits
Please read this part before paying us.
✗We cannot make you invisible. Some information is on public registers by law — Companies House filings, certain court records, the edited electoral register if you have not opted out. No service can remove those, and any service claiming otherwise is not being straight with you.
✗We cannot guarantee every site complies. UK and EU controllers are legally obliged to respond. Sites based outside those jurisdictions often are not, and some simply ignore requests. We chase them and can escalate to the ICO, but we cannot compel a foreign company.
✗Your data will come back. Data brokers continuously re-scrape public records. Removed information typically reappears within three to six months. This is precisely why removal is a subscription rather than a one-off — and if that sounds like a sales pitch, it is also just the truth about how the industry works.
✗We cannot stop every scam call. Removing your data reduces how easily you are targeted. It does not make you unreachable. Anyone promising to end nuisance calls entirely is overselling.
✗We are a young company. We launched in 2026. We do not have years of reviews or thousands of customers to point at. You are early. That is a legitimate reason to start with the free tools rather than a subscription.
Could you do this yourself for free?
Yes. Genuinely, yes.
Every legal right we use is available to you directly and costs nothing to exercise. You can write your own erasure requests, send them yourself and chase them yourself. We publish free guides showing exactly how, including our free opt-out letter generator and step-by-step removal guides for individual sites.
What you are paying us for is not access to a secret. It is not having to spend an estimated forty to sixty hours a year finding each site, learning each opt-out process, writing each letter, tracking each deadline and doing it all again when the data reappears.
If you have the time and inclination to do it yourself, please do. Our guides are free and always will be. We would rather you protected yourself for free than felt misled into paying.

Cancel any time. No minimum term, no exit fee, no retention phone call. Our cancellation page explains the process — we deliberately made it easy to leave, because a company that traps you is telling you it cannot keep you any other way.
Signs a privacy service is not legitimate
Whether or not you use us, these are worth knowing:
🚩No ICO registration number, or one that does not check out on the ICO register
🚩Guarantees to remove you from "the entire internet" or delete public records
🚩Cold-calls you offering to remove your data — legitimate services do not do this
🚩Asks for passwords, full bank details or copies of ID it has no reason to need
🚩No named person, no address, no way to contact an actual human
🚩Makes cancelling difficult or requires a phone call to leave
A specific warning: if someone contacts you unprompted claiming they can recover money you lost to a scam, for an upfront fee, that is a recovery scam. It targets people who have already been defrauded. We will never contact you out of the blue offering anything.
